The Power of Now — Highlights and Thoughts

The main message of this remarkable book revolves around the concept of living the present moment and avoiding anxious thoughts of the past or future. I’ve decided to write this story to better memorize main ideas, thoughts, platitudes, quotes or merely passages that had made on me the most profound effect.

I’ll start with a parable I first heard in David Foster Wallace commencement speech in 2005, which in my opinion greatly resonates with the “The Power of Now” main theme:

There are these two young fish swimming along and they happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way, who nods at them and says “Morning, boys. How’s the water?” And the two young fish swim on for a bit, and then eventually one of them looks over at the other and goes “What the hell is water?”
